Her Private Life KDrama - Must watch!
Disclaimer: I wrote this as I watched each episode.
I started watching this drama a few months ago but at that time, I somehow didn't find it so interesting so left the first episode halfway. But now that time has passed, it does seem interesting. Yes, it is the regular trope but nice in a way, maybe because of my current mindset - fangirling for LJG (if you check, I am on a parallel LJG marathon too)
This drama is a romcom about the twin lives of Park Min-young who plays Sung Deok-mi, is a curator by day and a fangirl by night. She's obsessed with Shin-An, an idol, but has set her own limits. Enter Ryan Gold (Kim Jae-wook), a top-class artist who has lost his mojo because of a painting. Their paths meet, and what happens next forms the rest of the story.
Park Min-young is perfect for the role of curator - she knows her stuff, has taken an art gallery from zero to the top and as the fan girl she's collecting everything about her favourite idol. She follows him per his schedule, takes pictures and posts them on her SNS, and hopes to meet him one day. The story continues to be enjoyable as it progresses. The misunderstanding that Ryan Gold has about Deok-mi and her friend, Seon-joo is hilarious. His heart softens because of this misunderstanding and the story continues. Ahn Bo-hyun as Deok-mi's Oppa (Nam Eun-gi) is refreshing. In Itaewon Class, he plays a ruthless villain but I liked his mellowed-down, clueless character in Yumi's cells. In this he appears a lot more refined and mature, let us see how his role progresses. And she does, but what a drastic turn of events because of this. Ryan Gold is hilarious even when he is stiff and expressionless in his acting which is deliberate. He tries to smile and I was in splits. Ladies, Ryan Gold will keep you entertained all through - be it his acting, or his looks, he's <3 Ok as we progress further into the series, I cannot get over the handsomeness and sexiness of Ryan Gold... I was reading the comments on this series somewhere and it feels like there was a Ryan Gold epidemic among fangirls and it was real, it continues to infect everyone watching this KDrama 3 years later too. Being smitten is not enough to express the feeling. He carries himself through the role wonderfully well. I am guessing that when the series was showing, there must have been a craze for him. He's just too good looking but my bias for LJG overtakes this so all ya girls fawning over him, he's yours only hahaha. Once they profess their liking for each other, the scenes are cute, and steamy, and make your heart flutter. That girl inside every woman comes out while watching this series... Oh god, this is unlike me to enjoy such romantic scenes. And when they start revealing each other's secrets, oh my gosh I found myself giggling like a schoolgirl. It's just so cute... You must watch it to feel it. Now coming to the other characters in the series, Deok-mi's best friend, Park Jin-joo as Lee Seon-joo, is super amazing as a BFF. She has a very cute kid too. But when it comes to being a wife, she is very manipulative and self-centered. Deok-mi's mother and father - we tend to think how "useless" their characters are, they just knit and collect stones all day but then only in the last episode do we understand why they are that way. Hyo-jin or Sindy - the girl transforms from being an obsessive stalker and spoilt brat to an evolved person. This transformation happens on the sidelines but is very heartwarming. As we come to the close and all, like how memories came rushing for Deok-mi, I suddenly remembered where I first saw Ryan Gold - He played the half-Korean/half-Japanese chef in Coffee Prince. Shucks, I cannot forgive myself for forgetting that!! I loved him in that series, although he had a fairly small role, his style and swag were alluring. The last episode was not so good in terms of it being the finale episode - they just tie the loose ends, it didn't feel like a full stop was done, it felt more or less like a comma. Nevertheless, the episodes before this one were too good, yes trope they may have been but it felt good, it was fun watching the series. Highly recommended to all of you girls, lots of eye candy, and lots of sweet (and steamy) moments. Why should boys have all the fun?
