Short reviews of kdramas I've watched - part 4

Image
Business proposal Very popular series this year. Classic kdrama trope but made hilarious thanks to the lead characters. The second lead pair is also cute, especially the 2ML. The 1ML looks like a junior version of Park Seo-joon tbh, and his kdrama obsessed grandpa is hilarious too. S2 is coming thanks to how much it appealed to the public. School 2017 One of the very cute Kdramas I've watched. Unlike other series which had high school romance, this one was neat. Yes there are the usual elements of rivalry, frenemies, rich boy, poor girl, but still it was engaging and entertaining. Give it a watch if you want to see Business Proposal lead during her younger days, loved her in both.  Reply 1988 This series deserves a separate blog but since I did not note down the finer points I am writing a very short review here. It was boring at first, 3 episodes later, you are thoroughly enjoying each and every aspect of the series. Took me back to my childhood tbh. Hye-ri, I loved her thro...

Double Patty - Light but an Endearing Korean Movie

Image
Image from IMDB Like always, a few actors leave an impression on you so much that you go on a spiral watching their every Kdrama or movie. And in the same fashion, I stumbled upon this movie of Shin Seung-ho who played the adorable crown prince of Daeho in Alchemy of Souls 1 & 2 . I wondered how this film would be since it was about a wrestler with Shin Seung-ho playing a wrestler Kang Woo-ram who quits the sport after his coach passes away suddenly. There was something very endearing about this movie that keeps you hooked on till the very end. How that double Patty that he encounters by chance becomes the central theme that connects him to the FL Lee Hyun-ji played by Irene forms the story. It is pretty slow, like most Korean films, very much like our lives, but those small details in the mundane is what is brought out very beautifully. Every Korean movie does that, just that not every film can be watched and stomached by the general audience. The secret to film making one has to ...

Alchemy of Souls S1&S2 - Must Must Watch - Review!

Image
Well, one of the best series of 2022 - lots of magic and action. It took me a while, at least till episode 4 of S1 to understand who each of the names corresponded to, what alchemy of souls meant, why someone does it, what or who mages are, and all that jazz. Till the 4th episode, things go slow but once you start understanding things, there's no looking back. Jang Uk played by Lee Jae-wook is fantastic, he is the black sheep in the family and has no powers or skills but with the help of his maid Mu Deok-i, he goes on a quick learner mode and picks up most of the skills that take years to master. He is also lucky in many ways and seems like the stars are aligning to help him out. Loved the chemistry between all the stars, Mu Deok-i played by Jung So-min whom I first saw in Because It Is My First Life, is pretty and smart as ever. The story gets interesting and intriguing with each episode. We get to understand why Jang Uk was not taught anything and why he did not develop any skill...

May I Help You - Heartwarming Kdrama Series - Hyeri Is The Best - Review

Image
This series is yet another heartwarming one from Hyeri. I love how she chooses her scripts. I watched it purely for her. Warning - this one covers death, bereavement, and funerals so if you will get triggered pls exercise caution. Hyeri or Dong baek lands a job as a funeral director and discovers that she has a special power - the dead talk to her just before they depart to the other world - she is able to get to know their final wishes and she has to do it, if she doesn't, she keeps getting hurt, involved in small accidents that remind her of her duty. She runs away after she meets the first "spirit", a little boy. But after all those reminders, she comes back to her job only to be shunned by her boyfriend (namchin) and other people around her just because she touches dead bodies and they deem it unlucky. Hyeri continues working in the job inspite of her father forbidding her from doing it. So she moves to a rented place owned by Vincent who runs an errand startup, A Dim...
