Flower Of Evil - Why You Must Watch This MindBlowing Drama

Image
Source: Internet I don't know where to start... just everything about this KDrama is literally the best you would have ever seen. Be it the story, the characters, the actors, or the story development, I am still at a loss for words and reeling from the awe that I am having for Lee Joon Gi.  The man is literally from some other planet.  There may be spoilers in this post but please bear with me, I will have to spill something to write what I felt about the series. Flower of Evil is now at the top of my list of best KDramas I've ever watched. So far it was a mix of reactions but this one takes the cake. I binge-watched this series over 3-4 days and I can imagine how people must have felt at the end of Episode 15 which was the best episode of all.  Let's break down the characters I loved - one by one. The King And The Clown - Korean Movie (2005) - Poignant, Deep, Must-Watch!

Image
Source: Internet Since I am on a Lee Joon Gi marathon when I was reading up about him, this one movie kept cropping up over and over again - the movie that was responsible for the rising popularity of the young man that he was in 2005.  Set in 15th/16th century Korea, this period drama touches upon several aspects in the subtlest of ways. There are hints of homosexuality, they talk about the tyrant king, freedom of expression, and of course the traditional arts that are used to showcase these.  In Tamil Nadu, the street plays are referred to as Theru Koothu and it is refreshing to see them in other parts of the world too.  This film had pretty much lesser known "stars" but the output is simply outstanding. Be it King Yeonsan, the tightrope walker Jang-sang or my new favourite, Lee Joon Gi who plays Gong-gil.  These tightrope walkers/minstrels, street performers mock the King and are jailed but get a chance to escape punishment if they make the King laugh, and ...

Short Reviews Of The Kdramas I've Watched - Part 1

Just sharing a few 1-2 line reviews of the dramas I have watched since Jan 2022. If the series was mindblowing, I would have probably written a full blog reviewing it, if it didn't make the cut, it would be here, lol. So here goes... Images from the internet While You Were Sleeping Quite an okay series. I am not a big fan of Lee-Jong Suk. Watched it for Suzy and Jung Hae-In. Legal series, moderately exciting.  Oh My Venus You have So Ji-sub and Shin Min-ah - what more can you ask for! I like how Shin Min-ah takes it in her stride to lose the extra pounds. I believe body shaming is wrong but being overweight and doing nothing about it is also wrong. Feminists, please stay away.  Like all KDramas, there are secrets and past connections. A good one to watch. Crash Landing On You Well, everyone must have already watched this classic. Watch it for the lead pair, beautiful story, the shooting spots are too good. To be honest, it gave me an insight into what it may be like inside Nor...

Why You Must Watch This Fantastic Legal/Political Drama - Again My Life!

Image
*May have spoilers My Dramalist So this K Drama was released sometime in May 2022. Somehow I never came across any influencers recommending this series. Since I had watched Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (basically for IU) and fell in love with Lee Joon-Gi's acting, I started watching this series.  To those that love legal/political dramas, this is a must-watch. Slick acting, solid characterisation, a storyline that keeps you guessing, and an edge-of-the-seat thriller of sorts, Again My Life has it all.  I found the storyline riveting, kept me hungry for me that I binge watched this fairly intense series.  While romcoms are nice, I am glad that this legal/political drama had less/almost nil romance, more action, and a strong story. Loved all the characters and how they build up too.  LJG who plays Kim Hee Woo, a rookie prosecutor who takes on the political bigwigs, dies at the hands of one such Assemblyman (his henchman). He is given another chance at life by the Gr...
