Short reviews of kdramas I've watched - part 4
Business proposal
Very popular series this year. Classic kdrama trope but made hilarious thanks to the lead characters. The second lead pair is also cute, especially the 2ML. The 1ML looks like a junior version of Park Seo-joon tbh, and his kdrama obsessed grandpa is hilarious too. S2 is coming thanks to how much it appealed to the public.
School 2017
One of the very cute Kdramas I've watched. Unlike other series which had high school romance, this one was neat. Yes there are the usual elements of rivalry, frenemies, rich boy, poor girl, but still it was engaging and entertaining. Give it a watch if you want to see Business Proposal lead during her younger days, loved her in both.

This series deserves a separate blog but since I did not note down the finer points I am writing a very short review here. It was boring at first, 3 episodes later, you are thoroughly enjoying each and every aspect of the series. Took me back to my childhood tbh. Hye-ri, I loved her through and through. She literally shone through the series even though she was supposed to be the ugly duckling
Page Turner
Story of 3 talented students, two of whom are forced to relook their strengths after an accident and how one inspires the other to focus on what they are good at. Interesting short series - just 3 episodes. One gifted pianist whose mother is obsessed with the child being the best - classic example of parents who force their unrealised dreams on their children and another contrastingly opposite parent who does not bother what his child is intersted in. The third parent maintains a distance and is more like a friend to their child - more like what we want our parents to be. Great story, actors did a fab job with their characters.
My Secret Romance
If you are looking for a romcom with some substance, this is not worth your time. It's silly, stupid but the only, I repeat, the only positive in this series is Sung Hoon. Gosh he's hotness personified. Steamy scenes in episode 1 and a kiss in every episode to make your heart flutter and ovaries burst because of Sung Hoon's looks and swag... The series is hilarious in parts but not entirely. I remember seeing him in Oh My Venus and swooning over his abs. However, I will highly recommended this one if you want a dose of testosterone and want to enjoy the thrills of dating/seeing a handsome guy and give your ovaries an enthralling ride!!
The Ghost Doctor
Ko Seung-tak, the first year intern played by xxx who I also noticed in Boys Over Flowers (probably the only one I liked), captures your heart with his cute smile and happy-go-lucky nature. He can see ghosts, talk to them and it so happens that Dr Cha who despises him can possess only him after he gets into an accident and goes into a coma. How The Ghost Doctor comes into being forms the rest of the story. The ghost in the form of Dr Cha who was a compassionate doctor and becomes hard-hearted learns to go back on his behaviour and become a better person. Does he wake up from his coma or does he pass away, does he make amends with the people in his life, does he become a better person and does the reluctant intern Dr Ko learn the tricks of the trade - watch the series to find out.
Lots of OT related stuff, blood, medical terminology, beautiful moments and extremely minimal or absent romance - just like how I like it. I really enjoyed watching this series, kept me smiling and also gave a lot of hope.
Love in Contract
So Jamie or Choi Sang-eun is a single life helper. She was adopted and trained by Ms. Tiffany to be the best bride possible. However, Jamie leaves that lifestyle and becomes a single life helper where her job is to get married to her client who may be avoiding it for many reasons and then divorce them a few months later. In the process, she ends up getting divorced 12 times. She is now with one of her clients who is gay and they both share a sibling bond which is heartening to watch. How she gets herself involved with 2 men and bow she falls in love with one of them forms the story.
I have to give it to Go Kyung-pyo for his acting. He comes across as someone who is unable to express his emotions. His flabbergasted looks are hilarious. How he turns from an insensitive guy to someone who goes the extra mile is worth watching. As for Kang Yoon-jae, the rebel chaebol who has now become a singer, he seems iffy in the beginning but his emotions, the way he suppresses his sadness are beautifully shown. Towards the later episodes I developed a newfound respect for this chap for his acting. Supporting characters are sometimes annoying, sometimes funny.
I am still unable to wrap my head around Jamie's relationship with Madam Tiffany. The apology scene that was spoken about, didn't connect with me. On the whole, a light but worthwhile watch. My only negatives - FL is too skinny, why has she cut her hairline so close? It looks like a wig!
The Memorist
This apparently is a remake of a webtoon and thus I read some comments that you've got to keep your logic out while watching this series.
Thriller to the core, scared me to bits most of the time, keeps you hooked till the very end, I didn't even imagine who the culprit would be so full marks on that front to the writer.
Story in short: Dong Baek is an orphan who developed the power to read other's memories by touching them. He uses this power to solve cases in the police department until he meets his match - the eraser who erases memories of people who may have seen the Eraser or would have been at the crime scene involving the eraser. Who it is and what connection the eraser has with Dong Baek is the story.
Watch it if you don't mind/enjoy creepy/scary scenes.
I Need Romance Part 3
While it starts off on a very ordinary note, the story takes time to keep you hooked. I merely watched this for Kang sunbae after his one dollar lawyer and Veil. Love his smile and you see a lot of it in. This series
But you don't end up liking him, he comes across as a prick sometimes. The FL also seems crazy, the only sane person is Sweet potato who is really sweet and cute. How the FL realises who she loves and finds her way to him forms the rest of the story.
If you want to take a break from action/thriller/horror series or want a light watch, I'd recommend this. And the kisses, ooh la la, watch the series to know more...
He is Psychometric
I watched this just after Memorist and did not like it so much. While it has all the elements of a thriller, I think I had "memory" fatigue. Watch it if you liked The Memorist and the cute lead pair. Some portions are annoying but watchable.
So that's it for Part 5, will continue my short reviews in Part 6. Stay tuned.
