Short Reviews Of The Kdramas I've Watched - Part 2
So we continue from Part 1...
Strongest Deliveryman
Watched this after being mesmerised by Kim Seon-Ho's Chief Hong in Hometown Cha Cha Cha and his second lead role in StartUp. Nice story, and has the usual elements, my first Goo Kyung-Pyo drama, and I loved his understated playing of the lead role. Has a strong female lead too. Overall a good story about community, being helpful, and being grateful. It was nice to see how the delivery boys have each other's backs almost all the time.
Itaewon Class
This one deserves a separate post but since it has been quite some time since I saw this KDrama, I will stick to a short review. Park Seo-joon all the way! Love his crew-cut hair and how he plays the character to the T. I don't know why but I love him in such roles, I saw one recently (Midnight Runners) and the way he exudes innocence and honesty in the roles he plays is truly worth noting.
It is the story of how the underdog takes on a giant and wins. OST is awesome, especially Start over by Gaho and Diamond, the music is very motivating and kind of pushes you to move forward especially if you are feeling low and drained out.
The way PSJ embraces diversity at the café he runs is impressive - be it the transgender cook who comes out on the show or the African Korean guy who helps them wait tables or his prison buddy. He feels out of place in a normal society having been to jail and not completed his education but he sees the goodness in people and till the end follows his principles.
Overall a fantastic drama, all the support characters did a great job with their roles.
What Happens To My Family
A very heart-warming KDrama... a very adorable Appa with his ungrateful children, a fiancee of the 3rd son who springs out of nowhere, a sickness, and final wishes. It is hilarious in parts and a tear-jerker in most parts. The series runs for more than 50 episodes but is truly worthwhile. The theme focuses on family and taking responsibility, especially for the children of ageing parents. If you don't mind family themes or emotional stuff, this is a must-watch. I would say this is one of Yoo Dong-Geun who plays Cha Soon-bong, the father, best roles ever. His acting stirs you deeply. I loved it. And of course, you have Park Hyung-Sik and his romance with a very responsible Nam Ji-Hyun (a favourite of mine) that everyone will adore.
Marriage, Not Dating

I watched this after My Shy Boss and it is a very passable series. Not really worthwhile. Very predictable and mildly funny.
True Beauty

I don't know why I watched this - as I have mentioned in my previous post, I think I am too old for high-school romances. The only positive for me was Hwang In-Yuop - sometimes reminds me of Lee Joon-Gi. Everyone is raving about this one because it deals with bullying at school, suicides, and stuff... while I appreciate the thought, it can get nauseous after a while.
Fight For My Way
Park Seo-jun all the way! I love how he plays the innocent chap and his hairstyle is always attractive. For the first and the last time, I liked Kim Ji-won in a series. I somehow disliked her characters in whatever else I watched. A motivating series on sports, a good one - I recommend it.
Don't Dare To Dream (Jealousy Incarnate)

Had watched one episode, and found it a bit annoying, especially because Jo Jung suk kept ignoring Gong Hyo-jin and had all these airs about himself being the presenter and the face of the TV channel. After a few months, I compelled myself to watch for Go Kyung Pyo only to find him playing the second fiddle. My heart was weeping and torn to see Kyung Pyo not get the girl he loved. Hyo-jin as Pyo Na-Ri does what she does best, she is a pro. Typical story, one wants to give up for the other friend but ultimately all is well.
Suspicious Partner
JCW and his bespectacled + suited look are to die for, especially when he looks at Nam Ji Hyun after lowering the glasses... eeesh! A good legal drama, King of Romance JCW does what he does best. Watch it for the leads and an interesting plot.
Vincenzo
I think this was my 3rd KDrama and I was floored by Song Joong-ki's acting - suave and niceee! Legal drama, I thought it was made well, but my friend didn't think so. The villain is someone you'd end up hating - the cold-hearted fella he turned out to be while Kwang Dong-Yeon wins your heart with his role. Other side characters also add to the variety of the show, comedy elements are good, especially Im Chul-soo, he does his roles with the utmost honesty.

Began watching it for Go Kyung Pyo but ended up admiring the female stars Seohyun and Kim Hyo Jin. Kim Young-min plays the villain and does a fantastic job as the mean guy, the complete opposite of his role in CLOY.
Forecasting Love & Weather

Older woman, younger man romance with a lot of unpredictability like the weather. You get to learn a lot about weather patterns, terminologies used, how they work at a weather station, and how they come up with predictions and warnings. I enjoyed that part of the series, not the romance - sorry not sorry! But recommended watch. So there ends Part 2 of my short review posts... Hope to write up Part 3 soon...
