Be it the story, the characters, the actors, or the story development, I am still at a loss for words and reeling from the awe that I am having for Lee Joon Gi.  The man is literally from some other planet.  There may be spoilers in this post but please bear with me, I will have to spill something to write what I felt about the series.   Source: Internet Since I am on a Lee Joon Gi marathon when I was reading up about him, this one movie kept cropping up over and over again - the movie that was responsible for the rising popularity of the young man that he was in 2005.  Set in 15th/16th century Korea, this period drama touches upon several aspects in the subtlest of ways. There are hints of homosexuality, they talk about the tyrant king, freedom of expression, and of course the traditional arts that are used to showcase these.  In Tamil Nadu, the street plays are referred to as Theru Koothu and it is refreshing to see them in other parts of the world too.  This film had pretty much lesser known "stars" but the output is simply outstanding. Be it King Yeonsan, the tightrope walker Jang-sang or my new favourite, Lee Joon Gi who plays Gong-gil.  These tightrope walkers/minstrels, street performers mock the King and are jailed but get a chance to escape punishment if they make the King laugh, and ...

Just sharing a few 1-2 line reviews of the dramas I have watched since Jan 2022. If the series was mindblowing, I would have probably written a full blog reviewing it, if it didn't make the cut, it would be here, lol. So here goes... *May have spoilers My Dramalist So this K Drama was released sometime in May 2022. Somehow I never came across any influencers recommending this series. Since I had watched Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (basically for IU) and fell in love with Lee Joon-Gi's acting, I started watching this series.  To those that love legal/political dramas, this is a must-watch. Slick acting, solid characterisation, a storyline that keeps you guessing, and an edge-of-the-seat thriller of sorts, Again My Life has it all.  I found the storyline riveting, kept me hungry for me that I binge watched this fairly intense series.  While romcoms are nice, I am glad that this legal/political drama had less/almost nil romance, more action, and a strong story.   Warning - there may be spoilers While I know it might not be right to compare two Kdramas that were being telecast almost alongside, I cannot help but do that. After all the hype about My Liberation Notes, I started watching that series and yes, I binged.  I follow a few Kdrama influencer handles and one such is  Noona's Noonchi . Being a mental health expert she shared a lot of videos about this series and I kept waiting every episode for something to happen. But it was all very bland. I tried very hard to connect but couldn't. I still cannot wrap my head around the hype. Continuing with my obsession for the Korean Drama series, let me share what I watched and liked among those series since the beginning of January this year. Coffee Prince, Guardian: The Lonely & Great God, StartUp, Nok-Du, Marriage Contract, Something In The Rain, One Spring Night. I started watching a few others Oh My Venus, Touch Your Heart, Hometown Cha-Cha, Love ft Marriage & Divorce but left them halfway because the first episode did not grab my attention like the others did.
