The Veil - Underrated Action Thriller KDrama - Review

I had finished One dollar lawyer - a feel-good, funny, and warm legal series and was impressed by Namkoong Min's acting. The way he smiled, frowned, laughed, and walked, so like all fangirls, I googled him, and wow. The wonder of wonders, he is a multi-talented personality!

2021's The Veil came up in the search and when I read the reviews I had to watch it.

Trigger warning - this series has a lot (I mean a lottt) of blood, violence, and gore, so please use your discretion to watch.

The opening scene itself turned my insides so much that I decided to drop the series. Watched a little bit of Little Women again and then came back to this series once again. Every episode in this series has a mind-blowing beginning and closing scenes. When you think, oh god this must be it for Namkoong Min, he just surprises you, my goodness, out of this world experience, you are left with your mouth open - like what just hit me!

Every single episode is packed with action, I thought Again My Life or Flower of Evil was racy. But this one smashes all of that. I am still biased toward LJG but this man really, I am still reeling from his acting.

His expressionless face, the suaveness of a secret agent, his nifty moves, I can keep going on and on and on.

Every time you think, ok this person must be the traitor, there springs another character (someone who you would never expect). It is a series that keeps giving till the end. I read this series did not receive much attention. It is probably the MOST underrated thriller series from the Korean stable.

Must must watch for all thriller and action fans. You will not be disappointed even for a minute. I cannot really get over the dizziness from all the action yet. It feels like a huge dose of epinephrine - jaw-dropping action, and amazing action choreography I must say. The hero puts it all together and his understated acting is just what the character needs. Less is more and how he does it!

One grouse I gave is that there are one too many car chase sequences. By the 6th episode, I had already seen 4 chases.

The story gets interesting as it progresses and each episode ends on a cliffhanger. But towards the end, you are able to guess who why what how. So it kind of went South in the last 2 episodes for me. Have you watched this series yet? What are your thoughts? Let me know!
